I used to think that I should be able to get my naturally wavy hair stick-straight with a round brush and a hairdryer. After all, hair stylists do it all the time. But now that I have, it's a whole new world of hair! The temperature setting means I can adjust it for my hair type (no scorching fine hair, no need to keeping passing it over coarse hair again and again), the curved edges mean I can turn under the ends. And my hair actually gets… straight. Not just “mostly straight but puffy and frizzy” the way it does when I'm (impatiently) wielding my blow-dryer, but sleek and smooth. It's a far cry from the technology of the 80s. I top the look off with some Kerastase Vernis Nutri-Sculpt Ultra-Shine Top Coat ($29), and and I've got the kind of swingy, shiny, glossy hair that used to require a blow-out.
